People Officer

Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a purpose‑driven organisation within the charity / conservation sector, supporting an international workforce and playing a truly pivotal role within the HR function.

Working closely with two Senior HR Advisors and the International People Lead, you will be the glue that holds the team together — ensuring HR processes run smoothly, information flows effectively, and colleagues across multiple countries receive a professional, responsive HR service.

This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role suited to someone proactive, highly organised and solutions‑focused, with a genuine can‑do attitude. You will be central to the day‑to‑day coordination of HR activity for international staff and will quickly become a trusted point of contact within the team.

The role is offered on a full‑time basis, although four days per week will be considered. You will be required to be in the Cambridge office a minimum of one day per week. The office is centrally located with excellent transport links (no on‑site parking).

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for HR‑related queries across the international team
  • Providing comprehensive HR administration and coordination support throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Supporting onboarding, offboarding and contract administration for international staff
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and personnel data
  • Coordinating HR processes, documentation and reporting
  • Supporting Senior Advisors and the International People Lead with projects and wider people initiatives
  • Ensuring HR processes align with best practice and remain efficient, compliant and well‑organised
What you’ll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in an HR Administrator, HR Coordinator or similar HR support role
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or a degree in HR (or equivalent)
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine willingness to support others
  • Confidence working with multiple stakeholders and international teams
  • Ability to manage priorities in a busy, team‑oriented environment
What you’ll get in return

  • Salary of £32,515 per annum
  • Flexible working, including the option to work four days per week
  • Hybrid working with only one day per week required in the office
  • The opportunity to work for a fantastic organisation with a meaningful global mission
  • Exposure to international HR operations and the chance to work closely with senior HR professionals
  • A collaborative, supportive team environment where your contribution genuinely matters
