A well-established, nationwide specialist services organisation is looking to recruit a Stand-Alone Payroll Specialist to take ownership of the payroll function. Your new role
As the Stand-Alone Payroll Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll services across the business. Your responsibilities will include:
Processing weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage
Managing statutory payroll submissions, including EPS filings, within strict deadlines
Reviewing and analysing timesheet data to identify discrepancies, trends, and potential issues
Administering payroll deductions, including attachment of earnings orders, pensions, and other voluntary deductions.
Managing new starter and leaver processes, including all associated payroll documentation such as P45s
Acting as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear and professional guidance on pay, tax, and deductions
Supporting year-end payroll activities, including P11Ds where applicable
Producing payroll reports and analysis, including gender pay gap reporting
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external organisations to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance
Providing additional support to the finance team as required
What you'll need to succeed
Proven payroll experience with end-to-end responsibility, ideally across both weekly and monthly payroll cycles
Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and current payroll legislation
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage high-volume payroll data accurately
Advanced Excel skills with confidence in analysing and manipulating data
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll information clearly to colleagues at all levels
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
A team-focused mindset and willingness to support broader business and finance objectives
