Part Time Payroll Specialist

I am seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits, while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Location: Central Oxford

Salary: 35k-45k
Part-time: 3 days a week with the potential to go full time
Permanent Position

Responsibilities:
  • Process monthly payroll, including salaries, bonuses, variable pay, and deductions.
  • Manage stipend and maintenance payments for specific internal programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension, and employment legislation.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records for all employees, including starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
  • Administer statutory and company benefits such as pensions, insurance, and tax withholdings.
  • Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders including HR, Finance, and senior management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll queries.
  • Liaise with third-party providers and external agencies as needed.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing relevant documentation.
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
Essential:
  • Demonstrable experience in payroll, HR, or finance administration.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Pay Circle).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage third-party relationships effectively.
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data from multiple sources.
Desirable:
  • Payroll certification (e.g., CPP, Payroll Technician Certificate).
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet payroll cycle demands.
