Payroll Officer – North West – Maternity Cover – Full time

A well-established international organisation operating within a highly regulated and fast-paced sector is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join its finance team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover. With a strong presence across the UK and Ireland, the business offers a collaborative working environment and plays a vital role in supporting essential services and operations.


Your new role

As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payrolls across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Working closely with Finance and HR teams, you will ensure payroll compliance, maintain employee records, and support reporting and analysis requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Processing high-volume payrolls for UK and ROI employees.
  • Ensuring payroll activities are completed accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • Managing payroll data, employee records, and statutory deductions.
  • Working with Sage Cloud Payroll (UK) and Sage Micropay (ROI).
  • Maintaining and monitoring time and attendance management systems.
  • Reconciling payroll data and producing regular payroll reports.
  • Supporting payroll audits and ensuring compliance with relevant payroll legislation.
  • Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
Assisting with payroll-related projects and continuous process improvements.


What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Approximately 5 years' experience within a payroll-focused position.
  • Demonstrable experience processing high-volume payrolls.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and Republic of Ireland payroll legislation.
  • Experience using Sage Cloud Payroll and Sage Micropay.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to analyse and manipulate payroll data.
  • Experience maintaining and working with time and attendance management systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Please note that this is a fully office-based position, requiring attendance on-site five days per week.
