About the Opportunity

I am working with a well‑established, medium‑sized accountancy practice based in Oxfordshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager. This firm has a strong reputation for high‑quality service, a supportive culture, and long‑standing client relationships. They are now expanding their payroll bureau and looking for a capable professional to lead the function.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of delivering an accurate, timely, and compliant payroll service for a wide range of clients. You will oversee the end‑to‑end process, supervise a small team, and act as the key point of contact for client payroll queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver multiple client payrolls across varying frequencies
  • Process statutory payments, pensions, holiday pay, CIS, and year‑end submissions
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll best practice
  • Lead, support, and mentor payroll team members
  • Build strong client relationships and resolve payroll queries professionally
  • Support process improvements and contribute to the growth of the payroll bureau
  • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare required reporting
About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working in an accountancy practice or payroll bureau is essential
  • Strong end‑to‑end payroll experience across multiple clients
  • Solid knowledge of UK payroll legislation

  • Strong organisation and ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Supervisory experience (beneficial but not mandatory)
