Payroll Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their organisation on a 12-month FTC basis
Hybrid working
Central London
£45-50k per annum

Duties include;

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and contract staff.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Ensure payroll complies with HMRC regulations and other statutory requirements (e.g. PAYE, NI, pensions, student loans).
  • Prepare and submit statutory filings such as P45s, P60s, and Real Time Information (RTI) submissions.
  • Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies during audits or inspections.
  • Oversee payroll software systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and fit for purpose.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure alignment of payroll data with employee records and financial reporting.
  • Lead and develop the payroll team, providing training, support, and performance management.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure team members are clear on responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries from employees, HR, and Finance.
  • Provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures.
  • Support senior management with payroll data and analysis for strategic decision-making.
  • Manage pension scheme contributions and auto-enrolment processes.

You will have;
  • Strong previous experience of end-to-end payroll operations including bacs, FPS & EPS
  • Familiarity with UK tax laws, HMRC regulations, pensions, and employment legislation.
  • Skilled in payroll systems like and Excel – including vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to audit, reconcile, and report payroll data.
  • CIPP Qualified
