Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team

Duties include;
  • Process high-volume, end-to-end payroll for large employee groups, including teaching and support staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines
  • Administer statutory and sector-specific payments, including Teachers’ Pensions, overtime, term-time calculations, and absence-related pay
  • Manage pension submissions, including Monthly Data Collection (MDC) for Teachers’ Pension Scheme and LGPS where applicable
  • Maintain and update employee records within HR/payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with GDPR
  • Handle payroll queries from employees and stakeholders, resolving discrepancies efficiently and professionally
  • Reconcile payroll outputs, including gross-to-net calculations, deductions, and third-party payments
  • Support year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds, and PSA reporting
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and education sector requirements
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure seamless payroll operations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls within a high-volume environment
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring all data is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal controls and GDPR
  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual changes, salary adjustments, and deductions
  • Administer high-volume payroll inputs, ensuring all transactions are processed within strict monthly deadlines
  • Act as first point of contact for payroll queries, responding to high volumes of employee and manager enquiries via email, phone, and ticketing systems
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to pay, tax, pensions, and deductions in a timely and professional manner
  • Escalate complex issues where required, ensuring clear communication and resolution tracking

You will have;
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across large datasets and complex payroll transactions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Customer-focused approach when handling employee queries, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently
  • Proactive and adaptable, able to work effectively in fast-paced education settings with peak payroll periods
  • Team player with the confidence to support colleagues and work collaboratively across HR and Finance
