Payroll Assistant Vacancy - Central Oxford - Part-time - £28.000 - £34.000 FTE

Your new company

Hays has been engaged to support a new vacancy within an organisation in the education sector for a Payroll Assistant. This position will manage payroll and assist with the year-end accounts. As well as collaborate with a supportive finance team.


Your new role

•Handle monthly payroll and RTI submissions, including statutory payments.
•Set and communicate payroll deadlines with the Head of Finance.
•Record new starters’ details in CintraIQ.
•Process payroll changes not managed by HR.
•Support the leaver process and issue P45s.
•Address payroll-related queries and resolve issues.
•Correct payroll errors promptly.
•Ensure timely processing of pay changes.
•Meet with HR to improve payroll processes.
•Submit pension contributions and administer salary sacrifice schemes.
•Prepare statutory HMRC reports.
•Stay updated with payroll legislation.
•Manage joint appointments and academic buyout arrangements.
•Post payroll journals and reconcile control accounts.
•Gather payroll data for budgeting.
•Support HR with annual pay increases and update pay scales.
•Work with the payroll software provider.
•Assist with quarter-end management accounts and year-end routines.
•Provide backup for purchase and sales ledger, and development accounting.
•Maintain the cashbook and perform bank reconciliations.
•Perform other duties as required.


What you'll need to succeed

•2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
•Knowledge of payroll and finance systems (preferably CintraIQ).
•High accuracy and attention to detail.
•Strong organisational and IT skills, especially in Excel.
•Excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Proactive, solution-oriented, and a strong team player.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Salary offered £28,500 - £34.0,00 FTE (Based off experience)
