Pastoral Officer | High School - Chorley | Long-term starting September 2025
An OFSTED Good school in Chorley have approached Hays seeking a Pastoral Officer on a long-term basis starting in September 2025.
You will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students, ensuring their well-being, and fostering a positive school environment. This role involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to address academic, social, and emotional needs, promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere.Key Responsibilities:
Student Support: Provide individual and group support to Year 8 students, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
Mentorship: Act as a mentor and role model, guiding students through their personal and academic development.
Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between students, and between students and staff, promoting positive relationships.
Attendance Monitoring: Track and address attendance issues, working with students and families to improve attendance rates.
Behaviour Management: Implement and enforce the school's behaviour policies, providing interventions and support where necessary.
Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any concerns.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, counsellors, and other staff to create a supportive network for students.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student interactions, interventions, and progress.
What you'll need to succeed
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience working with adolescents in an educational or counselling setting.
Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
