Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

A small Independent Secondary School in central Birmingham requires a Teaching Assistant to carry out ongoing support this year for one of their pupils. The school caters for young people from the ages of 14 – 24 years old and is a small and intimate setting. It is a part-time role with a temp to perm outcome, please find more details below:

  • Working in a small SEN school that is about 10 minutes’ drive from Birmingham City Centre
  • The role is Monday – Thursday 8.45 am– 3.00 pm (4 days a week) with a 20-minute lunch break
  • Supporting on a one-to-one basis students with complex SEN
  • The school is looking for someone who has experience of working with children with Autism, in particular with students that are nonverbal
  • The role involves delivering one-to-one lessons with students on a 2-week rolling programme, so it would require someone who feels confident in delivering these sessions
  • The role is on an ongoing temporary time sheet basis, but the school is looking to take a suitable candidate on a temp to permanent basis
  • Experience of PECs or Makaton is desirable, as well as a proven track record of recent experience working with SEND children
  • Hays Education needs to be able to obtain references directly from school placements in order to clear a suitable candidate for work
