Your new company

My client supports primarily highway projects across the East Midlands, taking them from conception to completion. Their services include maintenance, electrical works, mechanics, construction, environmental, civil engineering and more.

Their environmental team operates across acoustics, contaminated land, ecology, GIS, landscape design and planning. You’ll be supporting a team of ecologists who work on a range of projects from major highways, planning, educational buildings, residential to name a few.

Your new role
My client is looking for an experienced Ecologist to join the environmental management & design team, working ideally from Nottinghamshire but open to further afield on a more remote basis.
You will help the ecology team with technical oversight, project management and the delivery of environmental services. Part time role of 2 - 3 days a week.

Main duties will include:

  • Provide expert ecological advice to colleagues, clients and external parties
  • Lead, coach, and develop junior ecologists
  • Lead on ecological surveys (Protected species, habitats and more)
  • Write detailed ecological reports
  • Ensure successful delivery of ecology consultancy projects
  • Client liaising to ensure that financial targets and stakeholder requirements are met

What you'll need to succeed

  • A Degree in an Environment, Ecology or related field
  • Ecology experience with relevant UK legislation in a consultancy; offering technical oversight for projects
  • Ability to lead and support a team
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • A driving license and access to a car - Willingness to travel to Nottingham once a month at least
  • Membership with CIEEM - would be desirable
  • Holder of one or more protected species licenses; bats, badgers, GCN - would be desirable
  • GIS or other relevant software knowledge - would be desirable
