A charity-based organisation requires a part-time accountant for 3 days a week near Diss.

Your new company
Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a charity-based organisation based near Diss, Norfolk, who are looking for a part-time accountant to take the lead in managing the day-to-day accounts, working flexible hours of 22.5 hours, ideally 3 days a week.

Your new role
In this newly created part-time accountant job, you will be solely responsible for producing accounts to trial balance across the ledgers, posting journals, and preparing monthly and annual financial statements, which will involve analysis of income, budget variances across departments, and management reports detailing year-to-date, year-on-year variances through to supporting the Office Manager and Trustees at financial year-end audits.

Your other key responsibilities will be ensuring supplier invoices are paid, preparing & submitting quarterly VAT submissions, undertaking various bank account reconciliations, managing various income streams and overall cashflow management.

As a charity-based organisation, any experience of SORP reporting, VAT exceptions and monitoring of grant funding of restricted and unrestricted funds would be advantageous.

What you'll need to succeed
The organisation has gone through a period of positive change and growth which now requires an experienced accountant / senior bookkeeper who has a formal qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA) to take them to the next phase. Therefore, you must be able to manage the ledgers, prepare and monitor monthly management accounts detailing variances, ideally using Xero, and have the confidence as well as the commercial awareness to maximise revenue and manage costs. It is expected you will have a strong analytical approach to your work alongside the ability to and ideally understand charity accounting returns.

What you'll get in return
As explained, this is a part-time role working 22.5 hours a week based on a 3-day week which will be office-based at Diss and paying circa £30,000 - £35,000 (pro rata for part-time). Their holiday entitlement for full-time will be 28 days, including bank holidays, giving you 17 days pro rata holiday, a pension scheme of 4% employee and 5% employer, and membership to their health care scheme. They also offer free on-site car parking.
