Requirement for an Operations Planner
Your new company
You’ll be joining a highly successful and steadily growing engineering organisation that has built a strong reputation for delivering complex, bespoke systems to clients across the globe. The company has enjoyed sustained year‑on‑year growth, driven by an expanding international project pipeline and continued investment in modern manufacturing capability. Recent wins include several high‑value engineered projects that have strengthened their position in the market and created new opportunities for innovation across the business.
Your new role
As the Operations Planner, you will play a central role in coordinating planning activities across multiple departments including Design, Purchasing, Fabrication, Assembly and Site Operations. You will develop and maintain integrated schedules, ensure alignment between design outputs and production requirements, support procurement planning, and contribute to capacity modelling across the business. A key element of the role involves working closely with the internal ICT team to support ongoing development of the company’s in‑house ERP system. You will provide operational insight, improve planning workflows, enhance reporting capability, and ensure the system accurately reflects real‑world production and project requirements. This position requires a structured approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple competing priorities.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need experience of ERP‑based planning within a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally within a bespoke or engineer‑to‑order setting. You should have a strong understanding of MRP, capacity planning and production scheduling, along with the ability to coordinate activities across multiple operational departments in a fast‑moving environment. A data‑driven mindset and strong analytical skills will be essential, particularly in relation to using ERP systems and advanced Excel. You should also be confident in engaging with different teams, challenging where necessary and helping to drive alignment across the business. Experience gained in heavy engineering, fabrication or site‑based project environments would be advantageous, as would any exposure to ERP development, SQL or reporting tools such as Power BI.
What you'll get in return
You will be joining a progressive and growing organisation offering a salary between £35,000 and £40,000, depending on experience. This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of a high‑impact planning function while contributing directly to the development and refinement of a bespoke ERP system. You will have the chance to influence operational processes, shape future workflow design and be a key part of a business that continues to invest, expand and innovate.
