Operations Lead (Maintenance), 6-month contract, possible extension, starting ASAP

Your new company

Are you an experienced maintenance professional with proven leadership in large, complex estates? We’re seeking a Senior Operations Lead to join our client’s team on a 6‑month contract, driving operational excellence across a £25m annual maintenance and minor works programme.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage critical infrastructure, and ensure the estate remains resilient, sustainable, and future-ready.

Your new role

This position will be incredibly varied, covering a wide range of property types, from listed buildings to state-of-the-art facilities and a wide range of projects.

• Lead & inspire teams:
Provide strategic guidance, foster collaboration, and champion professional development.
• Drive innovation:
Implement smart technologies and digital transformation to enhance operational intelligence.
• Manage infrastructure:
Oversee mechanical, electrical, and building management systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Ensure compliance:
Uphold statutory requirements, lead risk assessments, and embed a culture of governance.
• Optimise resources:
Spearhead financial planning, asset management, and procurement strategies.
• Engage stakeholders:
Partner with various departments, contractors, and senior leadership to align operations with strategic goals.
• Respond to crises:
Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven leadership in asset management across large estates.
• Strong technical background in maintenance, repair, and optimisation of complex systems.
• Experience with CAFM systems and setting KPIs/SLAs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Commercial acumen and contract management expertise.
• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIBSE, IWFM, IAM, CMI) is desirable.

What you'll get in return

This is a 6-month contract covering long-term sickness that may be extended. We're looking for someone to start ASAP. You'll be mainly be based on-site with the team but there may be an opportunity to work remotely 1 day a week. You'll receive a day rate of up to £500 per day in-scope of IR35.
