Housing Officer (Social Housing) required in Lancashire region for minimum 8 weeks

We're looking to recruit a Neighbourhood Housing Officer in the Lancashire region on a full-time, temporary contract for a minimum of 8 weeks on behalf of a housing association. This is a 37.5 hour per week hybrid role, but will have a weekly requirement to travel the region so a driving licence with access to own vehicle and valid business insurance is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Be an active presence within the community, carrying out regular visits and neighbourhood inspections to identify issues and areas for improvement

  • Assisting with lettings, allocations, voids management, signups and viewings with new tenants, and completing new tenancy visits, tenancy audits and reviews

  • Completing fire risk assessments and other health & safety compliance tasks such as gas & electrical safety

  • Manage your own caseload of anti-social behaviour and other tenancy breaches including gathering evidence, witness statements and preparing legal paperwork

  • Support tenants at risk of tenancy failure and offering tenancy sustainment advice, signposting to external services where appropriate

  • Respond to general enquiries and complaints from customers, stakeholders and local MPs

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in a customer-facing, housing and tenancy management position with experience of managing your own cases of ASB & other tenancy breaches through to legal proceedings

  • A good understanding of housing legislation and best practice

  • A good understanding of welfare reform and benefits available including Universal Credit and PIP

  • Driving licence with access to own vehicle and valid business insurance
