You will be joining a leading facilities management organisation that provides high‑quality, reliable engineering support across a major commercial site in Southampton. The company is known for its professional service delivery, strong technical standards and commitment to maintaining safe, efficient and compliant building environments.

Your new role

As a Day Shift Multi‑Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical, electrical and building services systems. Working on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00–14:00 and 10:00–18:00, along with one Saturday per month, you will diagnose and repair faults, complete testing and inspection tasks, and support the upkeep of HVAC, electrical distribution, plant equipment, water hygiene systems and fabric repairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fault finding and rectification across M&E and HVAC systems
  • Carrying out PPMs and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Small installations, replacements and project work
  • Working with motors, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, pressurisation systems and BMS (Trend 963)
  • Supporting compliance, maintaining logbooks and completing documentation
  • Liaising with site users and supervising contractors
  • Responding to site emergencies and participating in the call‑out rota
  • Ensuring materials, tools and stock are effectively managed
  • This is a hands‑on, varied role that requires strong technical ability and a proactive approach.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A recognised trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, HVAC or building services engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance position
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, and building services
  • Experience with BMS systems (Trend 963 desirable)
  • Understanding of health & safety legislation and safe working practices
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively
  • Flexibility to support call‑out cover and occasional travel to nearby sites

What you'll get in return

You will join a stable and supportive engineering team on a long‑term contract, benefiting from a competitive salary, structured shifts, and opportunities for ongoing professional development. You’ll work with modern facilities, gain exposure to a wide variety of building services systems, and have the chance to broaden your technical skill set across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
