Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Days

Your new company

Our client operates critical infrastructure within a major port and industrial environment, supporting around‑the‑clock operations and global supply chains. Ongoing investment is focused on modernising assets, improving reliability, and supporting long‑term sustainability. The business places strong emphasis on safety, engineering excellence, and the development of its technical workforce.

Your new role

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a wide range of heavy mechanical plant and equipment. Your role will focus on ensuring assets remain safe, reliable, and fully compliant with statutory and regulatory standards.
You will carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspections, identify and report defects, and respond to reactive faults to minimise operational disruption. Working hands‑on with mechanical systems such as impounding pumps, hydraulic systems, dock gates, bridges, and associated infrastructure, you will diagnose faults and undertake repairs using appropriate tools and techniques.
All work will be completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and engineering procedures. You will also support delivery of the engineering maintenance plan and participate in an on‑call rota to provide out‑of‑hours support when required.

  • Experience using CMMS systems for fault reporting and maintenance planning
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR
  • Willingness to take part in an on‑call rota

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary and long‑term career development opportunities
  • 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Up to 10% matched pension contribution
  • Access to a wide range of flexible benefits, including healthcare, car scheme, Cycle to Work, gym memberships, and retail discounts
