Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Your new role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of heavy plant and mechanical systems across a large industrial site. This includes hydraulic systems, impounding pumps, bridges, dock gates, and other critical infrastructure. You’ll carry out preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs, ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and engineering standards. The role also includes contributing to planned maintenance schedules and participating in an on-call rota for reactive maintenance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, pumps, gates, and bridges.
  • Familiarity with PLC equipment and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, including PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
