Mechanical engineer with 3-5 years UK experience

An exciting opportunity to join a building services consultancy based in the heart of Manchester.

This consultancy specialises in:

Your new role

  • Deliver mechanical building services design across projects from concept through to construction and handover
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings for HVAC, domestic water, drainage, and associated systems
  • Support senior engineers with detailed design development and coordination
  • Undertake mechanical design using industry software (e.g. IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD/Revit)
  • Coordinate designs with electrical, public health, structural and architectural teams
  • Attend design team meetings, client workshops, and site meetings as required
  • Respond to technical queries during construction and assist with site inspections
  • Review contractor proposals and technical submittals for compliance with design intent
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations, standards, and best practice (e.g. Building Regulations, CIBSE, British Standards)
  • Continue professional development and actively work towards Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent)

What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • 3–5 years’ experience within a building services consultancy or contractor design environment
  • A solid understanding of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, domestic water and drainage
  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
  • Experience producing calculations, specifications, reports and coordinated design information
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit,
Essential: Experience working on UK projects and UK building odes for a minimum of 3 years.
