Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on designing machinery. You will be focusing on improving existing product lines, the research & development behind new product lines and solving engineering challenges. You’ll work closely with the design team to deliver innovative solutions to major manufacturers. This is a technically engaging position with scope for career development, especially as the business expands its design capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop machinery using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
  • Create models, drawings, and bills of materials from concept sketches
  • Collaborate with sales, applications, production, and controls engineering teams
  • Produce drawing packs for manufacturing and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Visit manufacturing and customer sites for testing, troubleshooting, and technical support
Candidate Profile
We welcome applicants with a strong mechanical engineering background, ideally with experience in:
  • Special-purpose machine design
  • Sheet metal, structural frameworks, and machining
  • 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) and 2D layout work (AutoCAD)
  • Engineering calculations, Excel, FEA, and CFD (beneficial but not essential)
