Location: Milton Keynes Salary: £40,000+ (depending on experience) Experience: 3+ years
About the Role
A well‑established building services consultancy in Milton Keynes is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of three years’ experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys delivering high‑quality mechanical design solutions and wants to grow within a supportive, forward‑thinking team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed mechanical building services designs, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and public health systems.
  • Produce technical drawings, specifications, and design reports using industry‑standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp).
  • Carry out system sizing, load calculations, and energy modelling.
  • Attend design meetings and collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Support projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and CIBSE standards.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and progress reviews.
  • Contribute to sustainable design strategies and low‑carbon solutions.
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers when required.
Skills & Experience Required
  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design.
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES, or similar design tools.
  • Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Working towards chartership (CEng) is a bonus.
