Hays Engineering are recruiting on an exclusive basis for an engineering company in Dungannon for a Design Engineer. This role involves designing and developing automated products from concept to completion, creating 3D models using software like SolidWorks, ensuring designs are manufacturable and cost-effective, and collaborating with manufacturing and procurement teams. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, adherence to industry standards, and problem-solving skills to create innovative, build-ready solutions.

Your new role

• Design and development: Conceptualise, design, and develop new products or improve existing ones, ensuring they are technically sound and commercially viable.
• CAD and documentation: Create and maintain detailed 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) using software such as SolidWorks.
• Manufacturing liaison: Work closely with production, fabrication, and procurement teams to ensure designs can be manufactured accurately and cost-effectively.
• Technical support: Provide engineering support and troubleshooting during the manufacturing and implementation phases.
• Compliance: Ensure all designs and components comply with relevant industry standards and quality requirements.
• Problem-solving: Conduct root-cause analysis of design issues and develop innovative solutions to meet performance targets.
• Required skills and experience
• Proven experience in a design engineering role.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks.
• A practical, hands-on approach to product development.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and automation principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design (automation experience a plus)
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communicator and team player
