Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role
An established engineering firm specialising in bespoke mechanical systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. The company provides tailored solutions to a range of industrial sectors, including recycling, automotive, and heavy manufacturing. Known for its technical innovation and rapid problem-solving, this is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This role is open to candidates with 1–3 years of experience as well as those with more senior-level expertise. The scope and responsibilities will be tailored accordingly to match the successful applicant’s experience and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred)
  • Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
  • Collaborate with production and installation teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
  • Modify and improve existing designs based on performance feedback and client requirements
  • Liaise with clients to understand project needs and provide technical input
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and safety regulations
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience in conveyor systems or industrial machinery is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
