Your new role
Your new role as a Material Flow Engineer will involve analysing, developing improvement plans, and implementing changes in material flow operations. You will be responsible for cross-functional communication and coordination of associated projects. Your key accountabilities will include driving the development and sustainment of material flow integration within the facility, managing the expansion of material flow with new product introductions, and leading and monitoring material flow operations. You will also quantify continuous improvement with the involvement of Supply Chain, Materials, and Manufacturing to ensure KPIs are aligned. Additionally, you will help develop and maintain standard work practices and strategies with internal and external logistics, oversee indirect labour by defining kitting and milk run operations, assist with scheduling systems, and define internal flow for product movement. Communication with team members and support members on results from overall objectives will be crucial, as will being part of a team that transforms material flow and factory layouts with innovative solutions.
What you'll need to succeed
What you’ll need to succeed includes a degree in Logistics, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable degree, or equivalent working experience. You should have 1 to 3 years of experience within a Supply Chain or Manufacturing Engineering position with significant experience in materials handling, and 2 to 3 years of experience in material flow processes with preferred experience in kitting and milk run operations. Knowledge of production processes and systems used for discrete manufacturing, understanding of DFT principles, and the ability to engineer material handling solutions are essential. You should also have the capability to analyse business processes by breaking down complex problems into single and manageable components.
