We are looking for a Management accountant to join a public sector organisation in Manchester on a permanent contract to prepare monthly management accounts

Your new role

You will be responsible for:

• Work with various stakeholders with all financial planning, budget and forecast processes and consolidate results for their areas, meeting with budget holders as appropriate.

• Assisting in the preparation of the costing and financial aspects of business plans for new and current developments and activities

• Seek opportunities to continuously improve procedures as necessary to adequately support the business activities

• Produce monthly and other ad hoc financial reports and ensure that these are distributed to the relevant Budget Holder and that appropriate action is taken where necessary

• Responsible for ensuring that financial reconciliations are undertaken on a timely basis, as required

• Oversee preparation and inputting of journals

What you'll need to succeed

You will have:

• Actively studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience

• Experience of working within finance in a large, complex organisation demonstrating ability

• A high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and other financial software

• An ability to work independently and as part of a team

• An ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
