Your New Role
As a Maintenance Fitter you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment. This role involves planned preventative maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns and contributing to the continuous improvement of the site’s reliability and efficiency.
Whilst working your core duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine, preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment, including conveyors, pumps, crushers, screens, and hydraulics etc. • Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime and ensure optimal plant performance • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to company safety policies, risk assessments, and safe working procedures, ensuring all work is carried out in line with relevant health and safety regulations • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs.
Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying areas for process improvement, cost savings, and increased plant efficiency • Fabrication & Welding: Carry out basic fabrication and welding work as required • Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, electricians, and external contractors to ensure seamless plant operations • Stock & Spare Parts Management: Assist in monitoring and managing spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available when needed.
What You'll Need To Succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to display the following skills, experience and qualifications:
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or a related field.
Experience
Proven experience in a similar maintenance role within a quarry, sand plant, heavy industry, or manufacturing environment • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
Skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Good communication skills and ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
Other Requirements
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and call-outs, as required • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Welding and fabrication skills • IOSH or equivalent health and safety training.
What You'll Get In Return
This role offers an attractive 40-hour week, running Monday - Friday 07:00 - 16:00. The hourly rate is competitive and a company van is supplied for travel to/from/between sites. Enhanced OT rates of 1.5 and 2.0 (Sundays) are available.
