Job Opportunity: Summer Maintenance Assistant Location:

1AB Salary:
£24,310 per annum (pro rata) Hours:
1 x 37 hours/week & 1 x 20 hours/week (flexible) Contract:
Temporary until 21st September 2025
Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking two enthusiastic and reliable
Summer Maintenance Assistants
To support the upkeep of our student residences. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with basic maintenance skills and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. painting, resealing showers, replacing lights)
  • Assist with fire alarm and emergency light testing
  • Support janitorial and housekeeping tasks, including linen handling and inventory checks
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure health & safety compliance
What We’re Looking For:
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (including Maths and English)
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work independently or in a team
  • Flexible approach and willingness to work occasional weekends
  • Experience working with the public is essential.
Additional Info:
  • Overtime paid for extra hours worked
  • Welsh language skills at beginner level are desirable.
  • Role reports to the Maintenance Team Leader / Assistant / Halls Manager
