M & E Surveyor based in Sunderland | Salary up to £45,000

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation in the housing sector. This strategic role is focused on the effective management and investment planning of mechanical and electrical (M&E) assets across a large property portfolio.

Your new role

  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date data on the condition of mechanical and electrical assets.
  • Implement periodic reviews of asset data, incorporating local and specialist knowledge.
  • Support the development of a long-term M&E strategy, ensuring investment priorities reflect asset age, condition, and repair trends.
  • Collaborate with asset planning teams to feed M&E investment needs into a 5-year rolling investment plan.
  • Lead the planning, design, and prioritisation of M&E projects, ensuring alignment with strategic investment goals and affordability.
  • Develop specifications and client requirements for all M&E investment works, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  • Provide competent technical advice on M&E assets and investment works.
  • Manage external Principal Designers in line with CDM and Building Regulations, including pre-construction documentation.
  • Act as operational lead for M&E investment, working with procurement teams to prepare tender documentation and evaluate submissions.
  • Liaise with contractors to resolve technical and specification queries.
  • Oversee delivery of small-scale M&E projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost control.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures aligned with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical asset management.
  • Experience in strategic investment planning and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, building standards, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external consultants.
