Litigation Legal Officer
Your new company
This local authority, based in London, is now looking for an experienced senior paralegal or junior lawyer to join their team as Litigation Legal Officer.
Your new role
As Litigation Legal Officer, you will:
Manage disrepair cases
Handle pre-action letters
Instruct experts
Advise on damages
Prepare legal documents
Brief and attend conferences with Counsel
Research and provide advice to client officers
Represent the Council in various courts and tribunals
Support solicitors in litigation
Help develop team policies and procedures
Design and update litigation documentation and office systems
Deputise for litigation solicitors as needed.
What you'll need to succeed
- Law Degree or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with individuals and groups at all levels, both within and outside the Council
- Ability to organise and prioritise your own work load and to work on own initiative as necessary
- Ability to represent the Council in the Magistrates’ and County Courts
- Ability to draft legal documents
- Desirable to have experience of civil litigation within a local government setting
