Librarian/Study Centre Manager – Term Time Only
Location: Tower Hamlets
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Contract: Temporary
Hourly rate: £16-18 dependent on experience
Start Date:1st September
DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS required
Status: Permanent position to be advertised

We are seeking a committed and proactive Study Centre Manager to lead the development and daily operation of our Study Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education, literacy, and student support to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop the Study Centre to support the school’s educational aims
  • Liaise with curriculum leaders and external providers to ensure resources are current and relevant
  • Stay informed on developments in librarianship, literature, and educational ICT
  • Supervise staff assigned to the Study Centre and ensure efficient service desk operations
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership
  • Support student supervision during key times (before/after school, breaks, lunch)
  • Participate in performance management and CPD activities
  • Uphold school policies including safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
  • A-level or equivalent
    OR
  • Relevant experience in a school or similar setting
Experience:
  • Proven experience working directly with children
  • Experience in managing educational resources or similar responsibilities
Skills & Understanding:
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard school administration software
  • Technical competence relevant to the role
  • Understanding of classroom management and flexible working practices
Personal Qualities:
  • Positive, adaptable, and resilient
  • Honest and professional with a commitment to work-life balance
  • Dedicated to personal and team development
Safeguarding Commitment:
The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection, in line with school policies and national guidance. An
