Your New Job
Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with behavioural needs? Hays Education is recruiting for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester. This full-time role starts immediately and offers a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, typically after 12–18 weeks. In this role, you will:
- Support pupils aged 5–11 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on behaviour and emotional regulation
- Implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour management plans
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
- Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What You'll Need to Succeed
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Team Teach or similar training (desirable but not essential)
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
