Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Job (Behaviour Support) Available at Primary SEMH School in South Manchester

Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour? This is a rewarding opportunity to join a specialist primary SEMH provision in South Manchester, supporting pupils aged 5–11 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. You will deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, promote emotional regulation, and implement behaviour support strategies. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education and trauma-informed practice.

Location: South Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temp to Perm (after 12–18 weeks)
Start Date: Immediate Start

This Manchester-based specialist setting provides therapeutic and educational support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs. Operating across two sites, the school offers a structured, nurturing environment with access to sensory rooms, outdoor learning spaces, and a multidisciplinary team including counsellors, behaviour mentors, and educational psychologists. The school is recognised for its trauma-informed approach, restorative practice, and commitment to children’s rights. It actively contributes to Manchester’s Child Friendly City initiative and empowers pupils through enrichment activities and pupil voice programmes.

What We're Looking For:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, or behavioural challenges
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Team Teach or similar training (desirable)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
