Level 2 Teaching Assistant role in Walsall, Starting in September.
This primary school is a community school for children aged 2 to 11, located in the heart of Walsall. The school is known for its inclusive ethos and strong commitment to supporting children from diverse backgrounds. Led by the Headteacher, the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, with a strong focus on SEND provision, mental health and wellbeing, and phonics development through schemes like Read Write Inc (RWI).
The school is seeking a committed part-time Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive and nurturing team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a school that values every child’s potential.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support small groups of lower-ability children, including those with additional needs, in accessing the curriculum.
- Deliver targeted phonics interventions using the Read Write Inc (RWI) programme.
- Assist the class teacher in preparing resources and adapting tasks to suit individual learning needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Support pupils’ emotional and social development.
- Liaise with staff and contribute to team planning and review meetings.
What you'll need to succeed
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge and experience of phonics, particularly Read Write Inc.
- Experience supporting children with SEN and lower ability learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
