Level 2 Teaching Assistant St Helens

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in St Helens, seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half-term on a temporary basis.

You will be supporting pupils across various year groups, assisting with classroom activities, learning interventions, and providing one-to-one support where needed. The school is known for its nurturing environment and commitment to pupil development, making this a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.

As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering planned lessons, helping to maintain a focused and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Individual & Group Work: Provide targeted support to pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping to reinforce learning objectives and encourage progress.
  • Learning Interventions: Support pupils with specific learning needs through structured interventions, under the guidance of the SENCO or teaching staff.
  • Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom dynamics, using school policies and strategies effectively.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare and organise teaching materials, displays, and resources to support lesson delivery and pupil engagement.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers to help inform planning and support strategies.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer emotional and social support to pupils, helping to build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to contribute to a cohesive and supportive school environment.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with children in a school or similar setting
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full right to work in the UK
