Legal Disrepair Officer sought by a well-established housing organisation.
Your new company
Join a forward-thinking housing organisation committed to delivering high-quality services and maintaining its housing stock to the highest standards. The disrepair litigation team plays a crucial role in managing litigation and ensuring compliance with housing legislation. You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive environment that values expertise, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Your new role
As a legal disrepair officer, you’ll manage a complex caseload of defendant disrepair litigation files, ensuring timely and compliant responses to legal claims. You’ll be responsible for setting up new claims, coordinating with internal teams and external legal professionals, and maintaining accurate records throughout the litigation process. You’ll also support paralegals and colleagues across the business through training, workshops, and day-to-day guidance. This job will involve drafting witness statements, conducting legal research, instructing counsel, and contributing to service development. You’ll play a key part in mitigating financial risk and ensuring the organisation’s legal obligations are met. This job is offered as a 3-month contract, with the potential to extend based on performance and business needs.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need proven experience managing a high-volume, complex litigation caseload independently and strong knowledge of housing legislation and civil legal procedures. You will also have excellent legal drafting, research, and communication skills and the ability to instruct counsel and interpret expert legal advice. You must hold or be working towards a legal qualification (CILEX or equivalent) and have previous experience of relevant claims legislation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems is also desirable.
What you'll get in return
You will join a dynamic and supportive team environment with opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a meaningful impact in housing litigation. This job offers generous rates and flexible working arrangements with 1-2 days a week in the office.
