Legal Director - Regulatory Safety, Health & Environment

Your new role

This firm is looking to appoint a Legal Director to strengthen our Regulatory Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team. This role involves advising individuals and organisations facing criminal investigations and regulatory scrutiny, including:
  • Corporate and gross negligence manslaughter
  • Health and safety, fire safety, food safety, and environmental breaches
  • Product safety and compliance
  • Inquests and public enquiries.
You will work on a varied caseload, providing both contentious and non-contentious advice, and contribute to business development and client relationship management.


Key responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of regulatory matters
  • Act as a key contact for clients, ensuring high standards of service
  • Prepare PACE submissions, conduct witness interviews, and advise on compliance
  • Support business development through pitches, presentations, and training
  • Maintain accurate file management and reporting
  • Stay current with legal developments and CPD requirements


What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 10 years PQE in regulatory or commercial law (ideally qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales).
  • Strong experience in HSE/Police investigations, inquests, and regulatory prosecutions
  • Knowledge of environmental, product, food, and fire safety laws is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Willingness to travel at short notice (driving licence preferred)
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and technical skills
