Legal & Privacy Counsel / Manager – UK & Ireland

Paddington, London (Hybrid: 2–3 days per week on ‑ site) £85,000–£93,000 (depending on experience) + 15% bonus + 10% pension + £5–8k CA + lunch paid

We are exclusively working with a global biopharmaceutical company, who are focused on creating a real impact every day for patients and society. They are now seeking a high ‑ performing, autonomous Legal & Privacy Counsel/Manager to join their UK & Ireland team. The team is a small, collaborative, and high ‑ impact function supporting a fast ‑ moving commercial organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior commercial lawyer with strong stakeholder presence, excellent judgement, and a passion for partnering closely with the business.

The Role

As Legal & Privacy Counsel/Manager, you will provide broad commercial legal support to their UK & Ireland Commercial Operations, working closely with brand teams, senior stakeholders, and cross ‑ functional partners. You will also act as a key advisor on UK data privacy matters, supporting the implementation of global privacy initiatives locally. You will report to the Senior Legal Director, UK & Ireland, and may deputise for them when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial & General Legal Support

  • Draft, review, negotiate and approve a wide range of commercial agreements, including HCP/HCO contracts.

  • Support brand teams on product ‑ related initiatives, ensuring compliant execution.

  • Maintain and update legal templates, resources, and the Legal SharePoint site.

  • Provide legal training to the business and proactively monitor changes in legislation.

  • Manage contractual disputes/litigation with external counsel where needed.

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies.

  • Review promotional materials in collaboration with Medical and Regulatory teams.

  • Support Group Legal projects, including contract management initiatives.


Data Privacy

  • Provide expert advice on UK data protection and data transfers.

  • Deliver regular privacy training across the business.

  • Support DPIAs, DSARs, and maintenance of data processing records.

  • Implement privacy projects from Group Legal and Global Data Privacy teams.


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 4+ PQE (will consider strong 3+ PQE with excellent product ‑ legal experience).

  • You will be an England Wales or Commonwealth qualified lawyer

  • Strong commercial contracts experience and ability to work autonomously.

  • Solid working knowledge of GDPR and UK data privacy law.

  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

  • Highly organised, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast ‑ paced commercial environment.

  • Experience advising senior stakeholders and sales teams.

  • Must have ABPI Code of Practice experience.

  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, medical devices, or manufacturing pharma.
