Learning Support Mentor – Secondary PRU – Manchester – Temp to Perm – Immediate Start

Your New Job
Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are recruiting for a Learning Support Mentor to join a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Manchester on a full-time, term-time-only basis, starting immediately. In this role, you will work closely with students aged 11–16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, help implement behaviour strategies, and assist in delivering personalised learning plans. Your role will be vital in helping students re-engage with education and build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
  • Team Teach or similar behaviour management training is desirable
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
