Learning Support Assistant in Walsall, Starting ASAP

A warm and inclusive primary school in Walsall is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. This role involves supporting a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on developing early communication skills. The school is known for its nurturing ethos and strong support network, creating a positive environment for both pupils and staff.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one support for a child with SEN.
  • Supporting the development of early communication skills using tailored strategies.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement individual learning plans.
  • Encouraging social and emotional development in a safe and engaging setting.
What you'll need to succeed:

  • A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience or training in early communication development (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or similar).
  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
