Level 2 Teaching Assistant- Leicester
Your new school
We are working with a school in Leicester who are seeking a Level 2 TA to join their school. This school provides education to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who require a more personalised and flexible approach to education. Many of their students have experienced disrupted education and present with high behavioural, social and emotional needs.
Their approach is rooted in strong relationships, consistency, and high expectations, with a clear focus on re‑engagement, regulation and positive outcomes. Staff work as a close‑knit team and are well supported by experienced leaders who value reflective practice, training and staff wellbeing.
This is a setting where every day is different, progress may be small but meaningful, and relationships make the difference.
Your new role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support learning and behaviour for pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will play a key role in helping students to access education, regulate their behaviour and build positive attitudes to learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students with high behavioural and emotional needs in the classroom and around the school
- Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils who may be disengaged or dysregulated
- Supporting teachers with learning activities, behaviour management and transitions
- Helping pupils to develop self‑regulation, resilience and routines
- Promoting a calm, safe and structured learning environment
- Supporting reintegration, attendance and engagement where appropriate
- Contributing to a team approach to behaviour, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
This role requires calmness, consistency and confidence, particularly during challenging moments.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Has experience working with secondary‑aged pupils, particularly KS3 and KS4
- Is confident supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour
- Can remain calm, patient and firm in difficult situations
- Understands the importance of boundaries, routines and relationships
- Works well as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
- Believes in young people, even when progress is slow or behaviour is challenging
Experience in specialist, SEN, inclusion, behaviour or pastoral roles is desirable, but the right attitude, resilience and values are essential.
