A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major projects within the nuclear sector. This is a senior technical role with responsibility for leading electrical engineering activities across the full project life cycle, from concept and detailed design through to installation support and project delivery.
This position would suit a highly experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in detailed design, HV systems, and project leadership within highly regulated industries.

Your new role
Lead and coordinate the delivery of the electrical engineering scope on complex projects
Manage schedules, document deliverables, project reporting, change control and engineering resources
Support project estimates and engineering work package planning
Produce, review and approve electrical engineering documentation
Perform electrical design calculations, equipment sizing and power system studies
Develop specifications, datasheets, cable schedules, single line diagrams and installation documentation
Prepare technical requisitions and evaluate supplier quotations
Support procurement activities and technical bid assessments
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, DNOs and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards and company procedures
Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and operational phases
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience delivering detailed electrical design within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries
Strong background in HV and LV electrical systems
Experience with:
Power system modelling
Protection studies
Earthing and lightning protection design
Load flow and equipment sizing calculations
Electrical distribution systems
Substations and small power installations
Knowledge of UK electrical legislation and industry standards
Understanding of hazardous area installations and ATEX requirements
Experience of CE marking and compliance requirements, including:
ATEX
PED
Low Voltage Directive
Machinery Directive
EMC Compliance
Awareness of risk management and health & safety requirements
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering (or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or actively working towards professional registration
Typically 15+ years' electrical engineering experience within relevant sectors
