KS2 Teaching Assistant St Helens & Close Surrounding Areas

Start Date: January 2026 (Immediate availability in January required)
Location: St Helens & close surrounding areas
Availability: Minimum 3 days per week
Experience: Any child-focused setting, e.g. school, nursery, childcare, youth work etc.
Contract: Temporary with opportunity for a permanent position

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who are looking for a fresh start, a new role and an exciting 2026. If you are passionate about making a difference in children's futures and being a part of their learning journey, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for KS2 Teaching Assistants who have experience in any child-focused setting for example, school, nursery, childcare, youth work etc. Our schools offer part time or full time hours so we can work around your availability, but what we do ask is that you are available at least 2/3 days per week, these can be alternate days.

  • Provide individual and group support to pupils in KS2, ensuring they stay engaged and motivated.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom management, and resource organisation.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and help implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy under teacher guidance.
  • Supervise pupils during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff to support pupil progress.
  • Contribute to the social and emotional development of pupils, promoting confidence and resilience.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A proactive, enthusiastic individual who can adapt quickly to different classroom settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one through Hays.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Available immediately.
  • Available at least 2/3 days minimum per week.
  • Experienced in a child-focused setting.
  • Relevant qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
