Chester. Interventions across KS2 and EAL support. Full-time long-term contract from September.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment is proud to be supporting a two-form entry mainstream primary school situated just outside of Chester City Centre as they are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support pupils of lower/mixed ability and pupils with EAL across KS2 (key stage 2). This is a full-time, long-term temporary contract that will last until at least the Christmas holidays.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting all KS2 classes on a timetabled basis, supporting pupils of lower/mixed ability, ensuring that all pupils reach their full academic potential. You will build strong constructive relationships with the pupils you are supporting to promote their engagement and focus, which will also enable you to associate learning material with their key interests. You will deliver intense academic interventions in key subject areas including Maths and English, liaising with class teachers on their progress and potential further requirements. As well as supporting lower and mixed-ability pupils, you will also offer 1:1 support to pupils with EAL in Years 5 & 6, delivering additional interventions in English, completing phonics assessments, and word games to build their understanding of the English language. Over time, you will introduce them into new pupil groups to build conversational language skills.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Experience supporting EAL
  • Experience delivering intense interventions in Maths and English
  • Be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of an experienced senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
