Your new role

Supply cover teachers are responsible for covering lessons that are left absent by the class teacher, so in this role you will be using existing lesson plans left for the class and making sure these are carried out to a high standard. You will need to ensure pupils are still fully engaged with the learning and be adaptable when required. You should be able to build relationships quickly and have strong behaviour management skills. This is a great role to broaden your experience working in various schools and year groups and to expand your knowledge.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in securing this position, hold qualified teacher status (QTS) gained in the UK. You should be enthusiastic, approachable and be able to hit the ground running. Good knowledge of the KS2 curriculum is preferred, however, this could be a perfect role for an NQT/ECT that is looking to gain some experience working within the primary school environment.
