KS2 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Newton Le Willows

Your new role

We are currently working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newton le Willows who are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a KS2 pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills in a nurturing, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs within a KS2 classroom.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies and EHCP targets.
  • Deliver tailored interventions in literacy, numeracy, social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and learning materials.
  • Support the pupil’s independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents.
  • Encourage inclusion and ensure the pupil can participate safely in all classroom and school activities.
  • Assist with managing sensory needs, breaks and structured routines.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings when needed.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with the pupil to create a safe and trusting environment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children in any educational or childcare setting (school, nursery, youth work, support work etc.).
  • Understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
