Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working in Key Stage 1 and want to make a real difference in a child’s learning journey?

Hays Education is working in partnership with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time role starting in September, ideal for someone with a nurturing approach and a genuine interest in SEN support.

About the school:

This welcoming school is part of a caring federation that places a strong emphasis on faith, compassion, and community values. Guided by the ethos “We learn, we play, we care, we pray”, staff and pupils work together to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where every child can flourish. The school is deeply committed to helping pupils recover lost learning, rebuild positive learning habits, and reach their full potential through high-quality teaching and dedicated pastoral support.

Your Role:

  • Supporting a KS1 pupil diagnosed with SEN on a 1:1 basis
  • Assisting the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping with speech and language development and sensory needs
  • Liaising with SENCO and external professionals

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (ASD, ADHD, speech & language, etc.)
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Ideally, a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (not essential)

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • Competitive daily rate
  • Ongoing support from Hays Education consultants
  • Opportunity to work in a supportive and forward-thinking school
  • Access to CPD and training opportunities
