A vibrant and welcoming special school in Sandwell is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality phonics sessions to small groups of KS1 pupils. The school caters to children with a range of additional needs and prides itself on its child-centred approach, strong team ethos, and commitment to professional development.
Your Role:
- Deliver engaging and structured phonics sessions to small groups of KS1 children, using systematic synthetic phonics approaches.
- Work closely with class teachers and the literacy lead to tailor interventions to individual learning needs.
- Support pupils in developing early reading and writing skills in a calm, encouraging environment.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including classroom support and outdoor learning.
What Weβre Looking For:
- Experience working with children in KS1, ideally within a special school or inclusive setting.
- Strong understanding of phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds, or similar.
- A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Ideally Level 3 qualified, but candidates with strong phonics knowledge and relevant experience are warmly encouraged to apply.
- A team player who is eager to learn and grow professionally.
