Contract: Fixed Term (1 Term Cover)
Salary: MPS (Main Pay Scale) – Paid to Scale
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Key Stage 1 (KS1) Class Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Ilminster on a part-time (0.4) basis. This is a fixed-term, one-term maternity/cover role with full teaching responsibilities, offering the opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and thriving learning environment.

This KS1 teaching job in Ilminster is ideal for an experienced teacher or an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) who is confident in delivering engaging lessons and supporting pupils’ academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the KS1 curriculum (Year 1 &/or Year 2)
  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Take full responsibility for the class, including marking, assessment and reporting
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports every child’s progress
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and support staff
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attainment and pupil wellbeing

About You
To succeed in this primary teaching role in Ilminster, you will have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching within KS1 (Key Stage 1)
  • Strong knowledge of phonics, early literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A commitment to inspiring and motivating young learners
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
