Junior Electrical Estimator – Belfast

Your new company

I’m working with a highly respected building services contractor in Belfast who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with a Junior Electrical Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years’ experience in estimating or an electrical/building services background who’s keen to develop a long‑term career in pre‑construction. You’ll be joining an experienced estimating team and will gain exposure to a wide range of high-end electrical projects including design & build tenders, fully designed schemes and early‑stage cost plans.

Your new role

As a Junior Electrical Estimator, you’ll support the preparation of competitive, accurate tenders while developing your technical and commercial skills. Day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the estimating team with electrical take‑offs from drawings and specifications, using your electrical/building services knowledge to ensure accurate quantities.
  • Assisting with tenders from initial enquiry through to handover, taking ownership of smaller packages under senior guidance.
  • Sending enquiries to electrical subcontractors and suppliers, chasing quotations, and helping collate pricing information into tender documents.
  • Helping prepare commercial schedules, including rates, tender breakdowns and cost summaries.
  • Highlighting any value‑engineering ideas, design gaps or potential risks you identify during reviews, passing them to senior estimators for discussion.
  • Supporting the development of strong client and supplier relationships, representing the estimating function professionally.
  • Ensuring all documentation is accurate and organised, and maintaining good communication with the wider team throughout the tender process.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will bring:
  • 1–2 years’ experience in an electrical estimating role, or an electrical/building services background with exposure to the tendering process.
  • Hold an electrical trades qualification or a building services–related qualification
  • Strong attention to detail and good numerical ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with suppliers and clients.
  • A proactive, professional approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines within a busy estimating team.

What you'll get in return

  • A clear progression pathway within an established commercial team.
  • Exposure to a broad mix of electrical projects.
  • Ongoing training, mentorship and professional development.
  • A competitive salary package reflective of experience.
