Junior CDM Consultant

Hays Health & Safety are excited to be partnering with an established consultancy providing CDM/PD Health & Safety services to long-standing clients. This is a genuine progression role for an early‑career CDM / Health & Safety professional to join an established, well‑regarded consultancy supporting a portfolio of long‑standing, repeat clients.

The business has a very low staff turnover and a clear track record of developing people internally. You’ll be mentored by a highly experienced line manager, with structured support, funded training, and a clear pathway into a full CDM Consultant role. Strong performers are actively supported through long‑term development and succession planning.

This role is based in the Lancashire area.

The Role
As a Junior CDM / H&S Consultant, you will support senior consultants and Principal Designer services across a range of construction projects, primarily within the North West. Responsibility will increase as your confidence and competence grow.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting compliance with CDM Regulations 2015
  • Assisting with design risk reviews at early RIBA stages
  • Contributing to Pre‑Construction Information (PCI)
  • Reviewing RAMS with guidance from senior staff
  • Attending site inspections and client meetings
  • Liaising with designers, contractors, and other stakeholders
This is a development-focused role — you will not be expected to operate independently from day one.

About You

This opportunity would suit someone with a foundation in construction safety or CDM who is now looking to move into consultancy and long‑term career development.

  • Some experience or exposure to construction H&S or CDM
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn

What’s on Offer

  • Ongoing mentoring and structured progression
  • Funded training and professional development
  • Clear long‑term career pathway within consultancy
  • Hybrid working
  • Stable environment supporting long‑term client relationships

Salary
£30,000 – £35,000, depending on experience + A car allowance to assist with travel to various sites.
